A true heavyweight T-shirt.
I wanted a T-shirt with real structure, not a thin garment chosen simply because it was the cheapest option.
So I chose a Made in USA T-shirt in 280 GSM heavyweight 100% cotton, with a dense, structured knit.
I deliberately chose American manufacturing instead of a standard blank mass-produced in Vietnam or Bangladesh. This choice matters to me: I would rather offer fewer pieces while starting with a garment I genuinely want to wear and embroider.
The fabric is also pre-washed to reduce shrinkage after the first washes.
The fit
I chose an oversized, boxy fit: wide through the body, with dropped shoulders and a slightly shorter length than a traditional oversized T-shirt.
At 280 GSM, the fabric has enough weight to drape cleanly. It does not cling to the body and keeps a more structured silhouette.
The embroidery
It is a major part of the Drôle d’époque identity.
Every design is custom embroidered. I chose embroidery rather than a simple print for its depth, texture and durability.
Above all, I wanted the artwork to feel like a true part of the garment, with clean, carefully crafted embroidery that stands out without taking over the whole piece.
